Metro Beach 10k

Metro Aberdeen RC are once again organising the Metro Aberdeen Beach 10k on the beach promenade.

Cost?

£18 for non registered or £16 for Scottish Athletics members.

How do I enter?

Online entries only via Entry Central and there will be no entries taken on the day. Entries will close at midday on 4th June or when the entry limit (400) is reached. There will be no refunds however race entries can be transferred to another person up to midnight on the closing date. Please e-mail races@metroaberdeen.co.uk with names of both runners.

Registration?

Registration will be in Transition Extreme from 5.30-6.45pm on the day.

Course?

Starting on the upper prom outside the Beach Leisure Centre the race first heads north on the upper prom until the turn at Donmouth where the course drops onto the lower prom and heads south all the way to Footdee(Fittie to us locals). Returning to the upper prom the course then heads north once again all the way to Donmouth where the course drops onto the lower prom and the final push to the finish around the Beach Leisure Centre. It is a fast and flat course but can be affected by wind!

There are 2 water stops on route at approximately 2 and 4 miles.

Prizes?

Prizes will be given to the first 3 male and female runners, plus age categories. There is also a £100 bonus for any runner breaking the male or female course records set since Metro Aberdeen RC took over the organisation of the race. Currently the records are Male 30:52 (Lachlan Oates 2023) and Female 35:03 (Nicola Gauld 2016).

History?

The Beach 10k was first ran in 1985 with Metro Aberdeen RC taking over the running of the event in 2014. Here's an interesting article on the history of the race
